There's Still Hope After A Fumble

I'm a football fan. One thing about the sport that breaks my heart is when the players carrying the ball fumble. The player is running, excited, looking toward the end zone to score, then all of a sudden the ball is knocked out of their hands.

Life will sometimes feel like we have fumbled the ball while running toward the end zone to score. One minute everything is going great and we're winning, while the next, we've lost the ball and the other team has it. It's frustrating and horrifying. It feels like we've lost in that moment, but God.

Just like the coach, puts the player back in the game, God puts us back in the game. The Bible says,

"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise." Hebrews 10:35-37

The player that fumbles the ball doesn't quit the game and go home. He gets frustrated but he doesn't quit. He gathers himself, then goes back to try again to win the game. He endures the humiliation of fumbling but doesn't stay in that place. If he were to stay focused on the fumble it would ruin the rest of the game.

God wants us to endure when life fumbles. Don't quit trying to achieve the goals when something goes wrong. It's okay to take a moment to be emotional about the disappointment. After the emotional disappointment, rejuvenate and keep going.Quitting is not an option, especially when the goal is God's will.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Please give us all the strength to endure when life fumbles. Give us the strength to quit when things go wrong. Help us to stay focused on Your will for our lives.

In Jesus name, Amen.
